Morbid Obesity: The Largest Silent Killer

Morbid obesity is killing off millions of people each and every year. It could be the largest single silent killer we know and it is spiraling out of control becoming more of a problem than ever before. There is really no more time to wait. We all need to stand up and do something about the morbid obesity problem now before it gets even more out of control. Chances are that either you or someone you know is already morbidly obese and this is why we all need to become more educated and take the steps towards getting healthy.

Why is There Such a Problem with Morbid Obesity?

There are a few different things in particular that are contributing to the morbid obesity problem in the world today. Not the least of these contributing factors is that people in general are not getting nearly as much exercise. People are much less active than they were even just a decade ago. Just think back to a few decades ago when people walked everywhere, few people had cars, and we actually had to walk around to get our work done.Today so many people have office jobs where they are sitting and working on a computer for the entire day and away from the office they sit and watch TV.

Are Things Getting Better?

The problem of morbid obesity has certainly gotten out of control and there is no time better than the present to do something about it. The first step that you should take if you are dealing with morbid obesity is to make some serious lifestyle changes

First, you need to be eating the right foods. You should be eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables more than anything. Leafy green vegetables are especially important because they offer your body vitamins and minerals that it needs to thrive, and will give you more energy so you will feel more up to working out and not be so tired and sluggish all the time.

Second, with all that new energy from eating right you need to get enough regular exercise to get fit and feel great. This does not necessarily mean going to the gym and sweating for an hour. It may be as simple as walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator or walking to the corner mailbox rather than driving.

Finally, when dealing with morbid obesity it is always wise to be under the supervision of a good doctor. This precautions will not only provide support but direction as you work on your new lifestyle choices and if you find that nothing is working, there is always the option of morbid obesity surgery. Although this surgery is not for everyone, if you feel as though you have tried all other weight loss methods with no success, this may be just what you need. If you are working with your doctor express your interested in the surgery and find out what steps to take next.

Morbid obesity that is allowed to run unchecked will certainly be deadly but when faced head on with determination and patience it does not have to be feared. With informed decisions it is possible to reverse the process and live a long and rewarding life. Morbid obesity does not have to be a death toll.
